Monotony

Now that all the excitement of the baby and the wedding have settled down, its back to the boring humdrum of college life.  The nonstep lectures and practicals are back with a vengeance.   This time, there are wards added to the mixture of Pharma and Patho just to make sure that a 3rd year student never gets enough sleep.

Its just a vicious cycle.  They cover so much in the lectures that you stay up studying so that you can revise and dont get enough sleep.  The next day you're exhausted and you end up sleeping in class and to make up for it you stay up even longer and so the cycle continues.

Yesterday, we were so exhausted after staying up all night because there was no electricity and giving a Pharma test in the morning.   Me and my friend found this empty room in the ward in the evening.  We closed the door, took off the bedsheets, sprayed disinfectant, and fell asleep.  A little while later, we hear a knock on the door and this army captain on rounds opens the door to find us collapsed on the beds.  Both of us sprang up as he closed the door.  A second later he walks back in and asks me if I was feeling alright.  I doubt that he expected to find a female cadet sleeping in the wards.  Ahh..we're going to be the "hot gossip" for all the captains for a couple of days.  That was embarrasing.

Simply Reminiscing

I'm honestly amazed at how quickly time passes.  My cousin Sahar is now the proud mother of a beautiful healthy  baby girl

It seems like only yesterday that me and her used to stay up all night with Sundus playing jokes on each other and having pillow fights.

It seems like only yesterday that we used to sit on the swing and talk for hours.

It seems like only yesterday that we waged a bet on who would get married first.   For the record I won that bet.

It seems like only yesterday that I watched her struggle and fight her way thru the admission process and triumph over it.

It seems like only yesterday that I watched her top her classes and get those gold medals.

It seems like only yesterday that she picked me up for my first weekend after the horrendous zero period at college.

It seems like only yesterday that I called her to tell her of the "rishta"  my mami had checked out for her.

It seems like only yesterday that we took that memorable trip to Lahore.

It seems like only yesterday that we went to all of small shops of the bazaar in Muzaffarabad so that she could find just the right lace.

It seems like only yesterday that I attended her nikkah while only half awake because I had an anatomy paper the next day.

It seems like only yesterday that I watched her leave her house to start a new beginning.

It WAS just yesterday that I watched her cradle her daughter in her arms with love in her eyes and I wonder what tomorrow holds for her.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Happy Birthday Hirra!   I love you more than you'll ever know.   May all your dreams come true.   I'm so sorry that I can't be with you on this day but just know that I'm thinking of you.

Homesickness

I am currently suffering from severe homesicknes.  I miss my little sisters more than anything.  Any little kid I see reminds me of them.  I mean they haven't been in my life for that long considering I was already a teenager when Hirra was born;  but the impact they have had in my life is incomprehensible.   I just cant imagine life without them.
